Atom Art is an independent animation studio based in Riga, Latvia, that tends to be a platform for young talented animators and their experiments. In the last years Atom Art has become one of the most noticeable creatively active Latvian animation studios.
The films produced by Atom Art has been selected at the festivals all over the world, such as Berlinale, Annecy, Ottawa, Oberhausen, Clermont-Ferrand, DokLeipzig, Hiroshima, Zagreb and many others, and has been awarded in many of them. During the last years Atom Art has premiered more than fifteen award winning short films. In 2019 was released first feature animation film of the studio “Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs” and until now it has successfully travel through the festival all over the world.
In 2022, Atom Art premiered the animated short for preschool-aged children “Hush Hush Little Bear” by Māra Liniņa at Berlinale and screened the artistic animated short “Guard of Honour” by Edmunds Jansons at Clermont-Ferrand. The latest animated short films “Kafka. In Love” by Zane Oborenko and “Freeride in C” by Edmunds Jansons will be screened at several international film festivals starting the autumn of 2024.
Right now the new feature film “Born Happy” and an animated short for children by Kristīne Zvirbule are in production, however, animation series “Hello, Oscar!” and several animation shorts are in development.
Besides animated films the studio also collaborates with all different partners to provide videos, designed titles, animated sequences, opening sequences a.o. creative material, for documentaries, feature films, TV shows, etc.
Edmunds Jansons
Edmunds Jansons is an award-winning director and the founder of the Atom Art studio. He also works as an animator, graphic artist, editor and creative producer, and enjoys illustrating children’s books in his free time.
Sabīne Andersone
Sabīne Andersone is the CEO of the company and the head producer of all major projects at Atom Art. Dealing the financial matters, Sabīne is still one of the most creative people of Atom Art’s team.
Mārtiņš Dūmiņš
Mārtiņš Dūmiņš is the lead animator and animation supervisor at Atom Art. Over the years, he and Edmunds Jansons have developed a unique cut-out animation style that serves as the brand of Atom Art in Latvia and abroad.
Agne Skane
Agne Skane is a production manager who oversees and coordinates all stages of the studio’s film production. She manages schedules, communication, and workflows across different departments, helping to turn creative ideas into finished films.
Linda Stūre
Linda Stūre is a young and exceptionally talented animator and director. She works as the assistant director to Edmunds Jansons, contributing her creative insight and strong technical skills to the production process.
Anda Briede
Anda Briede develops and leads various educational projects and activities for children. She also works on the studio’s newest film campaigns, as well as their distribution and screenings.
Reinis Pētersons
Reinis Pētersons is an illustrator and artist who works in diverse styles. He has created the design for the studio’s children’s films as well as his own short animation film, Ursus, made in a delicate charcoal drawing technique.
Elīna Brasliņa
Elīna Brasliņa is a talented artist and book illustrator who is collaborating with Atom Art already on the second feature film. Her unique colorful and rich visual style beautifully attracts children as well as adult audiences.
Ģirts Bišs
Ģirts Bišs is the sound director for most of Atom Art’s films. For some films, he has also composed music and has been quite successful at that, having received many national and international awards for his work.
Zane Oborenko
Zane Oborenko is an artist and animator who creates short films in the challenging sand animation technique, mastering it beautifully. No story is too difficult for her, not even one inspired by the seemingly dull existentialist Franz Kafka.
